Third full week of June-Weiser, Idaho

Battle of the Bluegrass Bands- SCHEDULE TIME CHANGE

Bluegrass Village is the place to be Saturday afternoon after the great parade. Originally scheduled to begin right after the parade, the Battle  has been pushed back to begin around 4:30.  Due to the Pigs N Pie Auction's necessary timing, and a desire NOT to have to break into our Battle of the Bands, we are starting the Battle later and taking it on later into the evening.  Our Battle has grown to FOUR Bluegrass bands competing for the first place win. We have scheduled some special entertainment to kick off the Battle of the Bands. Irish Dance Idaho from the Boise area will amaze you with their incredible maneuvers on the dance floor.  The stamina and precision these youngsters display is the impressive result of many hours of practice and  hard work. Following the Irish Dancers, Grammy Award Nominee Ronee Blakley will be performing. We feel truly fortunate to have these folks performing for us.

Here are the FOUR great bands lined up for the Battle:

The Roundhouse Band

Coming to us from Independence, Oregon, with their tight harmonies and great musicianship, we welcome The Roundhouse Band back to our Bluegrass Village Stage.  The Roundhouse Band is always a welcome addition to any venue and will also be entertaining on the contest stage on Friday night.

The North Idaho Hat Band

The North Idaho Hat Band consists of three home-schooled young men who play many instruments extremely well.  When they aren't studying or practicing they are helping out with farm chores.  They live in the beautiful Rathdrum area of north Idaho and we are privileged to have them come join us.

Jonathan Warren and the Billy Goats

From the Treasure Valley we have Jonathan Warren and the Billy Goats. The Goats are a popular group in the Boise area that plays an eclectic mix that displays their versatility.  This will be the third appearance for the Goats on the Bluegrass Village stage, but their first "battle."

We invite you to a great afternoon of excitement as these bands battle it out for the top spot.  You select your favorite bands by placing money into the buckets that will be circulated through the crowd.  There will be more excitement as Auctioneer/Parade Grand Marshal Joe Malay really livens things up with the Pigs 'N Pies Auction, a hilarious warm-up for the battle action that helps fund the After-School Program for Weiser's youth. We have to get the city and county police officers cleaned up and back out on the streets by 6:00, so we have re-scheduled them to begin between 4:00 and 4:30. Did we mention that the highest bidder gets to throw a pie into the face of the one they have "purchased?" Buy one of the officers or dignitaries, or one of the other poor suckers that has "volunteered" to take one for the team. There will also be a raffle drawing held by the COPS (Citizens On Patrol) for some great prizes, then the competition and BATTLE will begin right after the last bid. There will be more great performers after the Battle, so bring your lawn chairs or blankets and a pocket full of change to show your support and appreciation for these fine performers.  Plan to sit back and enjoy a cool beverage from our Bluegrass Village Beverage Booth where we will be featuring cold Budweiser beers, our local St. Regulus Wines, (try their "Fiddlers Three Cuvee,') and other varieties by the glass  as well as your favorite soft drinks.  Come early and get yourself a shady spot, but don't miss the parade!  Hope to see you all there!
