Where Fun Meets Fiddling!

Third full week of June-Weiser, Idaho
Top Entertainment on Bluegrass Village Stage

Fiddle Week has come to its end, and a great week it was.  Attendance at City Park was remarkable and the shady areas, as they moved with the sun, blessed many on our suddenly warm days.  Our performers entertained an appreciative audience every day and the caliber of entertainment, both local and regional, was exceptionally good.  Several first-timers on our stage added their immense talents to our mix. A big thank you to all of you who shared your talents and time with us, and a big thanks to all who came to enjoy them.

Friday evening we were interrupted for about an hour with a storm cell that passed over us with high winds and a deluge of rain.  The crowd separated and people sought shelter under the awnings and booths of vendors until the rain passed.  Boise radio station KBOI kept right on broadcasting live under their rain-soaked canopy.  Way to go Nate Shelman and crew!  What troupers you are.

The Pigs N Pies Auction was a huge success.  I found out how cool and refreshing a pie in the face can be on a hot summer day!  Yes, folks, ol' yours truly took a banana cream pie right in the schnozzaroo for the Special Olympics.   See, my job can be glamorous after all!

What a thrill to have had Brooks E. Robertson, Bobby Gibson and Miguel DeHoyos share their incredible guitar-playing with us.  A big, big thank you to Godin Guitars for their sponsorship.

Grammy nominees and winners Ronee Blakley and Alex DePue were wonderful to share their talents. What great additions I have been able to make to my cd collection without having to fight the traffic.  Exceptional and timeless beauty in so many genres was available from many of our artists.

The Battle of the Bluegrass Bands was very popular.  The winners were:

1st Place- North Idaho Hat Band
2nd Place- The Roundhouse Band
3rd Place- Jonathan Warren and the Billy Goats

Congratulations!  Each band provided their unique style to the great enjoyment and appreciation of the audience. We are very pleased to have had all of you with us, bands and audience members alike.  As it turned out, there were only three bands competing.  That is why we say "subject to change" on our schedule, as unexpected occurrences can change things in a hurry.

I am leaving the schedule posted here for those of you who might like to check on a particular entertainer or group's name.  There is no room to thank each one who added so much to our success this week, but know you are all so appreciated for all you have done. Thanks to all of you who came to City Park to eat, shop and enjoy yourselves and we hope to see you again next year.  Plans are already in the making!
